The athletes, who are both members of the Goldmine Wrestling Club, qualified for the National Championships, which will take place next month in Fargo, N.D.

Purdy, who won the California Bear trophy for his first-place finish, earned All-American status with his performance at the Nationals last year.

Keaton Richards, a seventh grader at Penn Valley School, took sixth place in the freestyle competition.

Callas, competing at 152 pounds, earned the medal from a field of 64 other wrestlers at the National High School Coaches Association’s national tournament in Virginia Beach, Va.

Monday / Wednesday  6:00 PM – 8:00 PM in the Wrestling Facility at Nevada Union High School, Grass Valley Ca.

Gold Mine Wrestling Club is for all ages and skill levels, from first time to advanced wrestlers.
