Welcome to the 2012 wrestling season. Last year we went back to an all volunteer coaching system, we felt it went very well with a few kinks to work out. We had a successful season last year and fully expect this season to be even better. Because we use a volunteer coaching system, it brings down the cost of joining Goldmine Wrestling Club but it means that we are going to ask for more involvement from parents. For those of you with younger children this may require you to get out on the mat with your child. We will have plenty of coaches during practice, but may not have enough coaches on tournament days, which means that you may have to coach your child during a match. By getting on the mat with your child during practice you will also attain the ability to coach your child during a match. We are very excited about this year and will do our best to ensure that your child has an enjoyable wrestling season.

On March 24th, 2012 we will be having our wrestling tournament. In order for this tournament to be a success it requires everyone to be involved. Please plan on volunteering at least 4 hours the day of the tournament. You will also be asked to donate an item which we will sell in our snack bar the day of the tournament. This is a major fundraiser for our club and helps to keep fees down, so again any help and or donation will be greatly appreciated.

- Entry fee: $10 per tourney, $15 Club Champ., $20 SAWA Champ.
- $10 Late Fee is being implemented if registered after weigh-in time (up to 30 minutes after).

Although SAWA is allowing late weigh-ins with a late fee, please do not be late. It is a major inconvenience for the paring room. Allow plenty of time to get to tournaments!

First Practice, Tuesday, March 13

Regular Practice Schedule:
Ages 8 & Under: 5:30 – 6:30
Ages 9-13: 6:00 – 7:30
HS to Adult: 6:30 – 8:00

The athletes, who are both members of the Goldmine Wrestling Club, qualified for the National Championships, which will take place next month in Fargo, N.D.

Purdy, who won the California Bear trophy for his first-place finish, earned All-American status with his performance at the Nationals last year.

Keaton Richards, a seventh grader at Penn Valley School, took sixth place in the freestyle competition.

Callas, competing at 152 pounds, earned the medal from a field of 64 other wrestlers at the National High School Coaches Association’s national tournament in Virginia Beach, Va.
