Gold Mine Wrestlers Julian Purdy and Will Sumner took first and second place at the Greco-Roman Wrestling State Championships on Saturday, June 5 at the Selland Arena in Fresno.

The athletes, who are both members of the Goldmine Wrestling Club, qualified for the National Championships, which will take place next month in Fargo, N.D.

Purdy, who won the California Bear trophy for his first-place finish, earned All-American status with his performance at the Nationals last year.

Keaton Richards, a seventh grader at Penn Valley School, took sixth place in the freestyle competition.
